For my third and final audio assignment for the week, I was tasked with recreating the popular beat to the globally known song, We Will Rock You, by Queen. There was a variety of different methods that I could’ve used around the room, however, the one that worked best was a box of small pretzel bites that we have laying around. It sounds exactly like the snare drum type of sound that the beat is widely known for. I used a tissue box and flicked it to get the other drum beat that comes after the first, widely known sound. Check it out below!
For my second audio assignment of week 7, I completed the Humming Away assignment. Growing up, I had a lot of habits, but two that stuck out – A), I would sometimes have trouble falling asleep, and B), I have a habit of remembering very random moments in and throughout my life. My second habit is one that has helped put an end to my first habit, for the following reason: One evening, when I was young, maybe 10 or 11 years old, I was in my dad’s truck with him. It was over the summer, and we were getting ice cream – it was a phenomenally happy, and peaceful moment. The song, “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz came onto the radio. For whatever reason, this song has caught on in my head and become one that I hum, whistle, sing along to in my head, or whatever else, very often. If I’m having issues falling asleep, I hum this song, and it always helps me get to bed. As such, I hummed it for the assignment.
For my first audio assignment of the week, and also one that I will use within my group’s podcast, I created an audio/radio commercial that is themed around the ’80s – I created a Pac-Man commercial! I used some of the audio and sound effects within the game as the background to my speaking, and I explained the basics of the game, and where you could go to play it. I tried to make the commercial set in the ’80s by mentioning that the game is found in Arcades, and to go find the closest one to you to play. Listen to it on soundcloud through the link below!
Completed this radio bumper was a lot of fun! I named by radio show, “Zane-o 8: The Ocho!” It’s got hip-hop, pop, and everything in between. Enjoy!
Picture this – you just arrived at your local roller rink to hang with your friends and show them your latest tricks. While they go to the counter to rent out their skates, you go to the bathroom to surprise them when you come out with the new, personalized skates that your parents got you for your birthday. As you lace them up, your favorite song, that came out last year, starts playing in the rink.
